‘SCMP coordinates cooperation between handlers, airlines, forwarders, carriers and other chain partners, to improve and digitise air cargo processes at and around the airport,’ says programme manager Luc Scheidel.
‘The goal is an efficient, safe and sustainable through-flow of air cargo, maintaining our lead and leading the way in safe air cargo transport. This will ensure we remain competitive in the future as well.’
Through SCMP, air cargo processes become ‘smarter’. Chain parties design the processes so that the flow becomes efficient and safe. For an efficient process, handlers need to know exactly what traffic is coming their way on landside. In the air freight chain, we want to prevent long waiting times for trucks leading to extra costs and environmental impact.
Digitalisation is an essential pillar within the programme. By making the right information available digitally in good time, we can make processes more predictable and crushable.

We are working towards an even more efficient, faster and safer air freight chain. Digital First will be the new starting point. The aim is to better plan chain processes and reduce waiting times at Schiphol for the delivery of air cargo.
