Central security checks take place in all departure halls, and at two points for transfer passengers. These checks are designed for passenger comfort and efficiency, but also to comply with EU-mandated legislation.
The gatehouse is an essential component of the central security concept. The gatehouse ensures that arriving and departing passengers are properly separated for security reasons.
Flight arrivals on Level 2 do not have security clearance that conforms to EU standards. Therefore, the gatehouse exchange area and passenger bridge will be searched for prohibited items. To make this process run smoothly, we ask that all ground handlers and airlines do not leave items or waste in the gatehouse or on the passenger bridge.
The gatehouse may only be accessed by staff with the appropriate authorisations on their Schiphol Pass. Airline and ground handler staff and other business partners who need access to the passenger bridge to perform their duties are authorised to enter the gatehouse. To gain access, they should swipe their Schiphol pass on the card reader in the passenger bridge, or the one near the shallow stairs.
Staff who wish to enter the terminal building during passenger debarkation may only leave the gatehouse using the route followed by the passengers at that time.
