News: Silence on Polderbaan Runway for national remembrance of flight MH17

Wednesday 17 July 2024 marks the 10-year anniversary of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 disaster. On this day, the disaster will be remembered during the national commemoration ceremony at the monument in Vijfhuizen.

At the ceremony we will observe a two-minute silence to remember those who lost their lives. To make this possible, it was decided, in consultation with the MH17 Families Foundation, to pause air traffic on the Polderbaan Runway (close to the monument) between 15:00 and 15:45.

Other runways

Due to the ceremony taking place, it is possible that air traffic will temporarily make use of different runways than usual. We kindly ask for your understanding. Do you want to know which runway is in use? Check the Notifly app or go to bezoekbas.nl. If you have any questions about runway maintenance or air traffic, you can contact the Local Community Contact Centre (BAS) on 020 601 55 55.
