In our annual Traffic Reviews, we offer an extensive overview of the most important traffic and transport figures from Schiphol. This publication is aimed at an international readership and is therefore available in English only.
Schiphol connects the Netherlands with the rest of the world and vice versa. Although we are now placed as fourth European airport on air transport movements and passenger transport, we are in line with the other major airports in terms of recovery and growth. With fewer visiting airlines and less destinations we observed an increase in aircraft capacity and higher seat utilizations. In the aftermath of the pandemic, for the third year in a row, we observe a decline in full freighter volumes. The total number of destinations to and from Schiphol, including passenger and/or cargo services, decreased from 313 destinations in 2022 to 305 destinations and 5 continents in 2023. Schiphol welcomed 61.9 million passengers in 2023 (up 17.9% year-on-year). The airport recorded a total of 441,969 air transport movements (ATMs), an increase of 11.1% compared with 2022. Total cargo volumes at Schiphol amounted to 1.38 million tonnes in 2023 (a decrease of 4.1% year-on-year). More in depth statistical details are available in the Annual Traffic Review.
