News: Transavia and Just Eat Takeaway.com first to launch ‘in-flight delivery’

Just Eat Takeaway.com and Transavia are the first companies in the world to introduce ‘in-flight delivery’, allowing passengers to order a meal of their choice for their flight. Passengers can order their favourite meal through Just Eat Takeaway.com up to one hour before their flight - from sushi to rendang and from salads to breakfast. The meal is freshly prepared by iFleat and delivered directly on board.

Transavia Flight HV 5355 from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Faro was the first to offer in-flight delivery, kicking off this special collaboration.
Transavia and Just Eat Takeaway.com developed the pilot programme in cooperation with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and iFleat, a Dutch caterer that aims to make a plane seat feel like a table at your favourite restaurant. The first-of-its-kind service is currently available on four flights from Amsterdam to destinations in Greece, Portugal and Italy.

The programme is expected to extend to more flights and airports where Transavia operates, such as Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Eindhoven Airport. Obviously, the choice of destinations where this extra service is available will depend on the travel advisories for each country.

Irene Muysson, Head of Retail, Food & Beverage and Commercial Services at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, explained: “COVID-19 requires new solutions, including in the field of food and beverages. Together with our partners, we look for innovative concepts and digital services that contribute to safety, speed and convenience. We expect that the contactless onboard delivery of a fresh and healthy meal of their choice will definitely appeal to our travellers. That made us happy to facilitate this pilot programme at our airport.”
