DeNoize tests smart window tech near Schiphol

DeNoize has constructed a pilot house near Schiphol to test their pioneering smart window technology that can reduce noise nuisance experienced by local residents. People living in the vicinity of the airport will be able to visit the house and gain more insight into how this technology could be implemented in their own homes. They can also sign up to take part in an upcoming sleep study. Curious? Keep on reading to find out more!

About DeNoize

DeNoize is a Dutch startup that was launched in 2018 to tackle noise nuisance experienced inside the home. DeNoize recognised that the majority of environmental noise that can be heard in the home comes in through the windows. They therefore developed innovative soundproofing technology for windows as a solution. DeNoize’s technology senses, filters and cancels noise from aircraft and passing traffic. This innovation is a world-first! Schiphol supports DeNoize because we see how this technology can make a positive contribution to the quality of life of the people living around the airport.

Testlab op Schiphol

Earlier research has shown that DeNoize’s innovative window technology can block much of the noise from outside. Now, DeNoize has constructed a house near Schiphol to use as a test lab. Their noise-cancelling window technology has been integrated into this pilot house, which was built using sustainable materials and the latest construction methods. The technology is in the pre-pilot stage and so this study is to gain more insight into how it works in practice. We expect the research period to run from May to August. After that, local residents and visitors will be able to visit the house in order to experience it for themselves and, in the case of our neighbours, see how it could be integrated into their own homes.

Sleep study

In addition to being able to visit this special purpose-built house, local residents will also have the opportunity to sleep in it! By spending a night in this house, located at Schiphol Trade Park in Hoofddorp, our neighbours can find out just how effective the DeNoize technology is at reducing aircraft noise heard inside the home. The exact dates of this sleep study are yet to be announced, but it is already possible to express your interest in being a participant. You can sign up here.

This pilot study is a collaboration between DeNoize, Schiphol’s Living Environment Foundation and Royal Schiphol Group. To find out more about DeNoize’s activities, you can visit their website. You can also read more about DeNoize’s collaboration with Schiphol on our website.
