The Preparatory Activities Forecourt work package is in the final stage of implementation. The operational facilities on Koepelstraat - which will create space for the renovation and redevelopment of the present bus station at Jan Dellaertplein opposite Schiphol Plaza - is beginning to take shape.
The groundworks (earthmoving, lighting, cables and pipes) and infrastructure work will be completed in the coming period. Construction has also started on the building housing sanitary facilities, the covered queuing canopies (the frames), the ‘pivot point’, the entrance area and the new Twintour revolving door at the site of the former baggage-trolley control lift to the terminal. Work will also start on the building at P41 later this year. The temporary bus station for the Schiphol Tunnel Major Maintenance project was already used for buses taking visitors to the Keukenhof Gardens last spring. Work on the other stops is in the final stages of completion.
Preparations are also progressing for the 12 September opening to crew transportation and taxis. The final work for the power supply, barriers, lighting and signs is in the process of completion. In addition, Schiphol IT is currently working on finalising the taxi regulation system.
Once fitted over the frames the canopies will provide passengers with a covered walkway to their stop.
The building housing sanitary facilities (left) is already taking shape.
