A world to discover!: Schiphol and learning
Did you know that Schiphol has loads of learning resources for schools, school pupils and students? In this blog you can read about our digital teaching pack for the classroom, how we help with research and design projects, internship opportunities, and various activities that kids can do at home or at the airport. There’s a world to discover at Schiphol!
Digital lesson package
We created the free digital lesson package ‘Kijk op Schiphol’ (only available in Dutch) together with educational publisher Zwijssen and it’s a great way for school pupils to learn all about the airport. It has been specially designed for interactive whiteboards and contains four lessons covering the topics working at Schiphol, sustainability and different cultures and languages. You can find the lessons and printable resources, including teacher’s guide and exercises, here.

Pupils searching for information about Schiphol for presentations and projects can find a wealth of information on our website. You can learn about planes, destinations, cool jobs at the airport and much more.
Whenever possible, we also strive to help pupils and students who want to carry out research and design projects at Schiphol. We’re often asked to provide assignments that relate to a real issue to be tackled at the airport. Some examples of such projects include coming up with ideas for a new meeting point and optimising flow balancing at the security filters. The new insights that pupils come up with are always inspiring!
Working in aviation
Thinking about a career in aviation? From secondary vocational education (MBO) to university education (WO), students are welcome at Schiphol to gain work experience with us. Whether you want to see what it’s like to work in the operation or do graduation research in one of our corporate departments, you’ll find lots of opportunities on our career portal. Also take a look at our Schiphol for students page for more detailed information about the airport – very useful for your research!
Fun activities for young learners
Last but certainly not least, we have plenty of fun activities for young learners. We have airport-themed pictures to print out and colour in, a Schiphol Activity Booklet full of games and quizzes (perfect to keep children entertained while waiting for a flight), and a Schiphol Discovery Trail that lets kids be Sherlock for a day. Young aviation fans should also check out the Schiphol YouTube channel to learn more about the airport.
